From the team that brought you The Obstacle Is the Way and Ego Is the Enemy, a daily devotional of Stoic meditations—an instant Wall Street Journal and USA Today Bestseller.
Why have history’s greatest minds—from George Washington to Frederick the Great to Ralph Waldo Emerson, along with today’s top performers from Super Bowl-winning football coaches to CEOs and celebrities—embraced the wisdom of the ancient Stoics? Because they realize that the most valuable wisdom is timeless and that philosophy is for living a better life, not a classroom exercise.
The Daily Stoic offers 366 days of Stoic insights and exercises, featuring all-new translations from the Emperor Marcus Aurelius, the playwright Seneca, or slave-turned-philosopher Epictetus, as well as lesser-known luminaries like Zeno, Cleanthes, and Musonius Rufus. Every day of the year you’ll find one of their pithy, powerful quotations, as well as historical anecdotes, provocative commentary, and a helpful glossary of Greek terms.
By following these teachings over the course of a year (and, indeed, for years to come) you’ll find the serenity, self-knowledge, and resilience you need to live well.

Give yourself the gift of personal and professional growth
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this book. It is a great way to start off your day. It gives you a little mental boost, a challenge for personal growth and allows you to use it year after year as you morph into the person you want to be. I have gifted this to so many people that I have worked with and mentored over the years. It is always well received.

If you are interested in the Stoics, this is a good place to start
I recently became interested in the Stoics after listening to some podcasts. I was told that reading some of the writings could be daunting and this book was recommended to me. It is great because it has the original writing as well as an interpretation/meaning of the essay/writing which is great. It definitely helped me understand the writings better and I don’t think I would have understood them as well without the interpretation. I great resource to start if you have an interest.

Excellent and Praiseworthy
Well-written and covers much ground. I am on my second year with this devotional, and I have purchased a copy for my son. The daily readings find their power in the quotations and the thoughtful commentary. They are not long, but in this case less is more.

Great Book
great introduction to the major stoic writers. I get a lot out of this, read it every morning. It’s a paragraph by a stoic writer, followed by a couple of paragraphs of explanation or examples. I think it’s a great way to learn about stoics and a cool way to start the mornings by reading something a little more profound than whatever cat video or think piece is on my phone.

Interesting and thought provoking
Well written and easy to understand. I don’t think I would have grasped just the meditations without having the expanded explanations.

Stoicism for everyday life
The Daily Stoic does exactly what intends to do, and that is to guide you through lifeâs daily troubles.SummaryFor those who want to get to the point, this is a good book. If you want to become more resilient against lifeâs obstacles, you should buy this book.⢠Who should read this book: This is a book for someone who wants to become more âthick-skinnedâ in life, but also do the right thing. If you want to become someone who never flinches towards adversity, this is the book for you.⢠Format: Well designed. Each page corresponds to a date on the calendar, so each day comes with a new meditation. You never need to read more than one page a day⢠Content: Each page starts with a relevant topic for any stoic. A related quote soon follows. Much of the page is dedicated to the authors explanation of the quote in everyday terms.⢠Impact: While the book wonât internalize it for you, it will tell you what you need to do to persevere through lifeâs challenges.Detailed ReviewWho should read this bookThis book is useful to everyone, because everyone faces challenges in life. This book is meant to help you through these challenges. While it wonât solve your problems for you, it will give you guidance, but also the fortitude to face them. You can be someone canât seem to get a break, or you can have your entire life under control. Either way, this book will toughen you up to become a master of your own life.FormatThis book isnât made to be read in one sitting. Consider it more of a calendar in book form. The authors named it well since it truly is meant to be read daily. It might be daunting to read something every day, but itâs not. You will be able to read it in less than five minutes, but will give you something to think about for the rest of the day.ContentIâll use the page of February 8th as an example. A title like âDid that make you feel better?â follows a calendar date on each page, in this case, February 8th. A related quote soon follows from a famous stoic, dating anywhere from Ancient times to modernity. This specific date has a quote from the Roman philosopher Seneca. The rest of the page is dedicated towards the authors views on the previous material. While itâs not as quotable as, well, the quote, it does give insight to the layman about these seemingly archaic views. This date, the author talks about how reacting extremely to a terrible situation will not solve said situation. It is better to remain calm in the face of adversity, so a clear head can be kept to make better decisions. Every day in the calendar year has something to offer to the would-be stoic.ImpactThis is the trickiest subject, but not at the fault of the book. The book has all the material necessary to change your life, but it canât be accomplished without you, the reader, internalizing the lessons taught. If you do internalize it, then you will face life as a stoic.Final VerdictBuy this book, itâs well put together and has useful information for everybody.

A great habit starter and worth the daily read
I’m a big Ryan Holiday fan for how he presents Stoic philosophy while also broadening our view of current and past life situations. You don’t have to agree with every thought or quote in philosophy to be able and sit with it, in thought, to see how it shaped your nature. I started with the Daily Dad book and this just helps on the more personal level of Stoic thought and virtues. It will be read every year!

I had a feeling that the quality of this product wouldn’t be the best but i was mistaken. For the price paid on it, its very nice and well made not to mention the material itself being the extract of the world’s greatest philosophers being broken down by modern day stoics.

As someone interested in Stoicism and applying its principles, especially in the face of external challenges, I was looking for a more practical and accessible way to incorporate Stoic wisdom into my daily life. This book is the perfect fit, with daily meditations that make ancient philosophy relevant today.Pros:⢠Provides a daily quote from a famous Stoic (Seneca, Epictetus, Marcus Aurelius)⢠Practical and easy-to-understand interpretations of ancient wisdom⢠Great for those looking to apply Stoic principles to everyday life⢠Can be read daily and reread throughout the year for new insights⢠Ideal for anyone seeking personal growth and mindfulnessCons:⢠Occasionally feels American-centric in its interpretation
