Iâm a motion graphics designer by day and a freelance artist/designer and small business owner by night. I have spent a lot of time an energy over the last couple of years soaking up business advice and marketing insight like a sponge, which has included some exposure to the shenanigans of career coaches and marketing âexpertsâ. Iâm not the type to invest in self-help books or fluffy inspiration tools/guides, but I was excited to receive my copy of Mind Your Business in the mail. Its pages provide a great balance of fun and functional, with an aesthetic that feels joyful (I smiled when I opened it up for the first time and saw a handlettered quote from a Jen Gotch) but practical.Personally, Iâm finding that this workbook is an opportunity to brainstorm and reflect without too much pressure. Iâm taking to each page with a pen and a commitment to letting my first thoughts flow freely. It can be so hard to commit to ideas about ourselves and our businesses, especially when youâre writing in a beautiful book, but Mind Your Business has a sense of humor that takes some pressure off. Clean, Clever, and Creative Workbook!
I love this workbook! Plain and simple. I was getting several orders on social media for my art left and right before I even came up with a business name and logo and taxes and pricing and… it was a lot. I have plenty of books that tell you where to sell your art but do nothing to explain how to tackle the business side. I was looking for a book that would walk me through the process of selling my art and get everything running through my head out onto paper. This book is amazing. Iâve been running my side, passion business for two years now, and my goal is to turn it into a full time gig at some point. This book helps you process the steps it would take in a very practical way. Itâs fun to use while being so helpful! Itâs so refreshing to find a book that hits the spot for creative business owners (and those wanting to get started). The worksheets in it are practical and applicable and so cute (which helps!). I already feel more prepared for knowing when it will be right to take the step into doing the business thing full time. Itâs designed so that it can be helpful to people who are at the very beginning, or people who have been in it a while and simply want to move forward and refresh their goals along the way. I’m someone who listens to a lot of business Podcasts and reads a lot of business books. And, despite this, I became amazed at how well put together this book is. Not only does this book look and feel great, but it guides you in creating a viable business plan.You start off creating an exit strategy for leaving your day job–then end up creating a productive work schedule. Each chapter has a purpose and forces you to take action. If you’re someone who’s thinking about starting your business then look no further.This book will be your roadmap towards building a successful business. Because it’s interactive you’ll feel good when you reach the last page–knowing you’ve made actual progress. Be prepared to do a lot of hard work but feel proud a few weeks later.

This is absolutely the best book ive ever owned!I have ADD and reading books with just droves of text only takes a very long time, as I have to reread multiple times for it to register properly.This book has the right amount of text vs graphics! Easy for me to follow and get through in a proper time frame.As for the content, its a wonderful book!It starts out with really great encouragement, goes into the more creative and fun bits of the business building part, and then gets into the harder more technical bits.Its honestly the perfect book for me and its really wonderful. I love it!

Buyer be aware
I find it offensive and unnecessary to use swear words in a journal made for all kinds of people to use for business. Call me old fashioned, I don’t care. I get it, new generation thinks language doesn’t matter in life or business, but I personally think it does.I am very disappointed. I planned to use it with my entrepreneurial son, who started his business a few years ago at age 8. I thought it would make a great tool to use, but no thanks.If the swear words were missing it would be a great tool.

I love this book!First of all, I want to talk about the design: you can see that Ilana is an awesome designer, the book is filled with beautiful hand written quotes which keep you motivated along your journey, I love the choice of neutral and pastel colours and how every chapter has its own colour palette.But onto the juicy stuff: this is the most complete book I’ve ever seen related to small and online businesses; I read a few of them in the past but most of the times they just focused on branding OR marketing OR planning, while this book has ALL the aforementioned topics and more! I feel it will become something close to a journal, which I’ll need to check out multiple times per day as it’s full of handy information.What I’ve never found in other books and to be honest I was pleasantly surprised to find it here is “Pricing” and “Legal Stuff” chapters! Obviously they are based on the US laws so if you’re a foreigner like me, you will still need to do your research locally regarding the legal counterpart of your business, but still! It gives you so many information about these sort of things which are easily overlooked by a newbie.So yes, I definitely suggest picking up your copy and be ready for an awesome business year â¨Bea.
