“Why Didn’t Anybody Tell Me This Sh*t Before?” is the book you wish you had already read. A collection of more than 60 letters from female leaders of multimillion dollar companies, solopreneurs and every kind of woman in between, these stories are both a lifeline and a roadmap for women navigating our increasingly complex world.
From being the only woman in the room in ‘old boys’ club’ businesses, to making the impossible choices between cherished work and family, to dealing with loss, anger and fear, these stories have hard-earned lessons to teach all of us. But it’s not all battle scars and suffering—like all good stories, these pages are shot through with laughter, growth and triumph too.
So if you’ve felt alone, or wondered when the right mentor or community is going to appear, you can stop searching. This book is your invitation to learn from the experience of women just like you—to borrow from their strength, courage and fierce will to succeed, and to take your place in this community of women who, day by day, are quietly changing the world.

What You Don’t Know You Don’t Know
True transparency – I am a contributor to this book. But before it was published, I only knew what I contributed. I didn’t know I would be part of an awesome group of women who have experienced so, so much to get to where they are. And I am not talking about only the leaders in business – these are real, honest, hardworking women who are looking to make a contribution right where they are. The old saying is true – don’t judge. We don’t know what the person next to us has been through – or is going through at this moment. But the important lesson from this book is knowing each individual CAME THROUGH! And their experiences can help you know how to love yourself first, never trade your authenticity, and not to let the Super Woman within kill you. Based on the stories of these brave women you will learn how to stop worrying about what other people think, how to leap before you are ready and understand why you do not have to be perfect (ever!). You will come to know the ‘not so secret’ way to honor the journey that led you to here, how to open your heart and transform your losses, to let your anger fuel your success and to rise up in spite of your pain. And by the time you are done you’ll be certain you should never stop growing and to lead like the woman you are. Perfect for a young woman starting out – but women of any age can take these stories to heart! Bravo to my fellow contributors for their bravery and honesty!

Women Leaders, Rise Up
I confess, I bought this book because of the title. There were many times in my life when I desperately wished I had a mentor, or even a female guide. Instead, I was caught in the male-dominate legal world and had to succeed on my own stubbornness, tenacity, and sweat.Inside the pages of “Why Didn’t Someone Tell Me” are nuggets of wisdom, shared by women who have been there. Savor these nuggets, because they are worth their weight.I commend the authors and contributors of this book, for sharing the hard moments of being a woman in a man’s world. Women are collaborators, not competitors. The words in this book and the spirit of collaboration are waiting for you to embrace, embolden, and enliven your work, and your self.

If You’re a Woman, The Title Says It All – OMG
I could tell within a few pages that this was going to be a book I wanted to savor instead of devour. I relate to every story in this book and some overwhelmingly so. It’s comforting to know so many other women have gone through the same thing – and it’s incredibly sad that we didn’t tell each other this stuff before now. If only I’d had this book in my 20s – I’d have ruled the world. LOL Seriously, I’m so thankful to have it now. It’s a book I’ll be going back to again and again. Thank you to every woman who contributed to it, for baring your souls and for your honesty. Love you all!

This book will inspire you
Full disclosure here: I wrote one of the segments of this book. But I learned so much from reading the stories shared by other women. This book is full of inspiring and sometimes heartbreaking stories of women who have overcome all kinds of obstacles to embrace life and make the most of it. I wish I’d read this in my 20s. But it was still a gift to read this book in my 50s.

Probably an inspirational book if you are a copywriter…..
Probably an inspirational book if you are a copywriter but not inspirational for me (in a totally different profession). I appreciated the women’s stories of their struggles but didn’t relate to most of them even though I am a woman in a male dominated profession. Disappointing.
