Epitome of “thoughts become habits, habits become character”
If you’ve ever heard the saying “thoughts become habits, habits become character” then you know what this book is about. Everyone can be a better version of themselves. It just comes down to being in the habit of having a well controlled thought process. The book says it’s suggestive but i think it also explains the thought reality relationship pretty clearly. Dispute it’a name (which I like!) it’s a good book for men or women =]. Would recommend 10/10!

A product of its time, thought provoking with aspects that haven’t held true
As a 120 year old writing, this short read should be taken based on the era it is from. There’s some great wisdom in purifying thought to improve circumstances. Some very distilled sage advise, but given in a very “all or nothing”, “holier-than-thou” way that can be challenging to agree with at times.I don’t agree that kids bombed in war zones are at fault, or deserved their lot in life, because of poor thoughts. Which the author seems to suggest. I do agree that we are responsible for improving our own circumstances by our good actions and thought. James Allen does have good guidance on how to achieve that.Personal believe is that we are not our thoughts alone. A stronger man (or person) recognizes they are not entangled in their lesser thoughts but focuses on those that are positive and strives to live in them. I don’t believe that any of us are able to live with completely pure thought, but that the act of trying makes us better. All in all, a worthwhile read, even if some parts came across very ‘judgy’ – which, again, a book of its era.

Great read, I bought his box set soon afterwards. Lots of good points and very Hermetic and esoteric when you break it down. Highly recommended

I bought this book on a friend’s recommendation. The ideas and insights are definitely worthwhile, but the older writing style made it more challenging to read than I expected. That said, I’d still recommend it for the content alone
