Really works
I have full sun on deck, so got this so we can sit or eat without sun in our eyes. It really works. Kept sun hitting us and made it cooler. The first time i used it was 100 degrees outside with full sun and no clouds and worked like a charm.

I am glad I bought this, but it’s important to know that it will not completely block out the sun. The photo in the ad makes it look more opaque than it is, but it’s just a thin black mesh. I doubled it and that helped against the setting sun. I may try sewing a 3′ wide black panel into the middle of it for more shade, and weighing down the other side of the umbrella with little clip-on weighted solar lamps (cheap at Bed Bath and Beyond) if needed. But for me, this solution beats the alternatives of paying to install a side panel on my deck, buying an expensive and heavy metal screen, or lugging a large partition in and out (all solutions I considered). It’s very easy to attach and detach. Also, seems well-made to me.

Not A Great Shade Device
The product is well built, easy to install and remove from my deck umbrella. BUT, the fabric weave is too loose. I measured the amount of sunlight (footcandles) in front of and then behind the screen and the light reduction was about 50%. While it is a reduction, I find the amount not enough. With a tighter weave and maybe something south of 75% light reduction it might be worth the purchase. As it is now, not so much.

Does not work to block shade
The screening was very open and was not a shade screen. Did not block any sun or create any shade. The idea was good but didnât use sun shade screening. It was easy to install but complete waste of money so I sent it back.

I had to put Grommets at the bottom the sun screen to tie down to be able to use as shade. Excellent idea for shade

Surpringly works well
This was just what my southwest facing deck needing. Not complete shade but enough to be comfortable in the late afternoon scorching sun. Wish I had found this sooner!
