Not really for heavy weight items, but has a fair amount of bells and whistles
I did not purchase this to hold camera equipment, but rather to hold my painter’s pochade box which weighs 11lbs when filled with all my paints, brushes and painting panels. Because of the size of this box (roughly 11″ x 12″), a ball head doesn’t give me the stability I need. Based on the description that this had a pan head and was rated at an 11lb load capacity, I was hoping this would be the tripod for me. Alas, the head is made of plastic and as such I found it couldn’t support my pochade without a significant amount of bouncing, not desirable for painting. I couldn’t help feeling like it might also be a bit tippy with that big box on it, although I didn’t have any actual tip overs. All that said, I am pleased with the purchase. I do own a few pochade boxes and they are all much lighter than my big one. For these, this tripod works quite well. I like the flip locks on the legs and quick release plate much more than the twist ones on my other tripod. There is a small level on it which is helpful, a hook to hang my backpack which adds to stability on windy days. The pan head and the center pole height adjustment work well enough for me, but if you’re trying to use this for video work, you may not feel like they’re “fluid” enough. While it’s not the most compact tripod I own, it will fit strapped to the outside of my daypack and it’s very lightweight. The one that was shipped to me was missing the carry bag and extra quick release plate, but Amazon gave me a partial refund and I was able to purchase extra QR plates with that. Since there is a convenient carry handle on the tripod itself, I usually just carry it separately. For my main purpose of painting en plein air, this is my go to tripod now because it’s so easy to carry and to set up. I’ll still be looking for a tripod for my “big” pochade box, but for my smaller ones, this one fits the bill.

This tripod is sturdy enough and does the job for my self-tapes with my phone. As others have mentioned, you need to be careful with it because it’s made a bit flimsy.As long as you are gentle, I think it will last a long time.I just wish the phone holder was a twist for tightening instead of a stretch clamp. I feel like that may break sooner.Overall happy with it, and it’s price.
