Excellent book for child interested in architecture
I purchased this book for my grandson, who is interested in architecture. He was absolutely thrilled with the book because it showed how the buildings were put together and constructed. He read it from cover to cover.

Difficult to put down for adults!
This was so cool that my wife read it cover to cover and had to be convinced to wrap it up as a gift⦠Compared to the 800 page textbook I read for an introductory art history college course, this book is a very good primer to get kids (and adults) excited about the development of art and architecture.

Great gift for HS Art student
Very nice coffee table book. Is a gift for teen grandaughter who is an excellent artist and loves her architecture class in HS. She has enjoyed looking through the book on numerous occasions and told me it actually assisted with some ideas for some assignments.

Perfect (and useful!) coffee table books
Perfect and useful coffee table books. Great quality! I love they are knowledge encyclopedias and not just whatever fashion or homestyles are on trend. These are timeless. Would definitely recommend.

The book is very concise, not too much information, very basic. For that price, it is not too bad. Do not expect details.

PROSThe positives first⦠itâs a great looking book, has a lot of imformation about the subjects and is well presented with some lovely images. Itâs a bit basic, but is obviously aimed at kids. Itâs pretty good value on sale too. It could be an ideal quick reference book. Thatâs if it offered all that it promised.CONSSo, onto the negatives. Quite a few Iâm afraid. Firstly, you can only view the ebook as single pages, surely you should be able to see double page spreads. Pretty much every other kindle book has this option. It also says itâs 1008 pages long in the description. Far from it. The last numbered page in the kindle version is 192. In the contents you canât even tap on an item and go to the relevant section. The only ways to navigate are to tap on each page or use the scroll bar at the bottom of the screen. It is somewhat Russian roulette to get to the area you wish to read. Itâs frustrating to say the least. All the pages can be zoomed in, but not enough to double the size of the images and enjoy the art or architecture to its fulllest. When you do so, the images and text start to get blurry. This is very disappointing for this type of book. Itâs the one main reason to get an ebook like this. You cannot even bookmark a page, never mind copy or highlight any text. Itâs basically just colour photocopied! How big is the file size, even if it was saved as a PDF it could offer everything that it should?Thereâs only one other title, out of the thousands I have that doesnât adhere to the regular kindle ebook convention. Thatâs a DK title. Itâs calledâ how things work encyclopaediaâ. Ironically it doesnât live up to its name either. I also see thatâs under review by Amazon. Itâs a lot worst to be fair. Iâd have given it no stars if that was an option.CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATIONSSo to sum up, the good content gets a star and so does the layout and design overall. For the many issues I have outlined above, I should really give it one star overall. At the price I got it for, it may serve a purpose. I am still undecided if I will keep it or not. It needs the resolution to be increased, a bookmark option added and an easier way to navigate. Then it would be well worth purchasing, even at a higher price. Basically, just convert it to a PDF file.
