I see a lot of comments with conflicting information and I will try to bring some facts to bear on my experience with the outdoor misting fan.1) The fan has three speeds, plus oscillation and the ability to turn on or off the misting feature, in addition to tilting up or down.2) In my set-up, I have the fan elevated on a table, approximately 30 inches off of the ground. We enjoy sitting outside on the patio during most of the Spring, Summer and Fall.3) Having lived in Arizona and now in Colorado, I am very familiar with the concept of misting fans. Misting fans use a small micron nozzle(s) to cause the water to mist into the air. When humidity is added to the air on a warm dry day, it cools the air up to 20 degrees cooler much like an evaporative cooler. Does the mister leave some water on the deck? Yes. Do you get some moisture on you from the mister? Yes. Both of these items have to deal with how hot is the day? How dry is the air? How high or low do you have the mister turned on. There is a plastic switch that allows you to turn down the water pressure coming into the misters. On a hot day, what little mist is generated is appreciated and feels good. If I want less mist, I point the fan so that it is blowing over our heads and we are sitting 10-20 feet away from the mister. If you live in a climate that has moist air, less mist will evaporate into the air.4) Using the fan only is 80% of how I use the fan. Some Summer evenings can be warm and there may not be a breeze. In this case, I turn the fan on and a gentle oscillating breeze is created. The fan is not so noisy to interrupt conversation.5) Does the fan prevent mosquitos? In my experience, if the fan is blowing on people, this interrupts the mosquitos ability to fly in the wind. Also, the fan disperses the carbon dioxide that we exhale and mosquitos are attracted to. This has been shown to be the case in a Michigan State University study and the American Mosquito Control Association study. While this is not a guarantee you will not get bitten by a mosquito, it seems to reduce the occurrences.6) Kids love it. On a hot day, when the kids are visiting, I turn it on and let the kids cool off by standing right in front of the fan or run-through the mist. They think it is great fun. I myself, use it mostly for the outdoor fan and occasionally use the misting function on hot days.7) I found it to be a good value and the product works well. You just need to understand what factors influence misting and judge how you will use this misting fan.

This was a real life saver for us!
We live in Woodland Hills, CA., a very hot part of the San Fernando Valley, otherwise known as the “Devil’s Armpit” With global warming getting worse each year, our summer heat has become almost unbearable. This past August we hit 121 degrees within two weeks of temperatures in the triple digits. 114 degrees was not uncommon in this period. And while I could hide inside with air conditioning and my other cats, we have an older semi-feral cat who refuses to come in. In the winter I can put out heating pads on the covered porch, and our temps are never that low anyway. But it’s really hard to know what to do to help cool the yard in the summer. I’ve used the hose just to wet things down — bushes he lays in, etc. — and I’ve had a mister in the tree which helps. But when it gets up to120 degrees, it’s way beyond uncomfortable, it’s a kind of killer heat which I wasn’t sure this poor old cat could survive. I could only go out so often to wet his head down with ice. This Mister, really made all the difference in terms of summer survival. It really felt like it dropped the temperature in our yard down by 25 degrees. With the fan flowing, it creates a very strong mist. The first day I tried it was a bit of a disaster I’d aimed the mister straight at the bushes our cat likes to shelter in. The problem was that the bees, apparently also in need of cool water, flooded into the same area. But I found that by moving the mister back a ways, and aiming it more generally in his direction, the bees were not attracted to that one place. With the help of the occilation (at first I didn’t think it was working, but I think in retrospect I just wasn’t seeing it as the movement is quite subtle and only seen through the slats), I was able to set up the cooling effect over a broader area, less intense but more preferred by the cat. At least I felt the cat had the option for cooling down. I did not measure the temperature directly, but I’m guessing it was lowered from about 120 to the 90’s. A big difference. I know our AC was fighting to keep us in the 80’s inside. In any case, I’m very grateful to this machine and its inventors. It served a life saving purpose for us. And at least I feel I have some sort of go to way of controlling the temperatures outside. No easy feat!

Gets the Job Done
It is GREAT with the mister. Blows the mist about 10ft or more. But as far as blowing strength… it isn’t as strong as the fans (same fan) I have gotten without the mister. Would buy again if I am buying for the use of the mister combo.

I purchased this mister for the greenhouse. We live in Central California and had several days of 110* and above. This mister saved my plants from the heat and kept things moist. It will leave a good amount of moisture on the floor. We have a tarp on the floor so I had to sweep or shop vac it up often.

Very powerful
Throughout the years I have purchased and used a variety of misting systems. Desperately trying to find one similar to a commercial mister found in a lot of public places, without the cost. This little unit does just that. Triple digits and high humidity sometimes forces the feel like temps to 110 degrees. I will add that, and in accordance with the reviews I have read, you will need to keep a distance or prepare to get very wet. This unit is portable enough that I plan on making it a required part of my camping trips. I have only used it twice but both times I was amazed how well it worked.

It is fantastic for cooling the area. You canât be too close to it and wind does play a part but it definitely cools the area. Water pressure can be controlled as well. Would highly recommend this product.
