It’s like a lightweight, very low energy air conditioner
Very quiet!!! Excellent portable fan for the price!! You could sleep by this fan very easily; You wouldn’t even know it’s on, except the nice cool breeze that blows your hair around. This is a fantastic little mister!! If a strong wish counted as an invention, I would have invented this fan many times over the years, starting from more than a decade ago. My air conditioner breaks down, and I can’t count how many years I wished I’d had one of these. After visiting hot parks that had mister fans to very effectively cool off the visitors, I’ve always wanted one for my bedroom in the Summer. It is perfect, because the water tank sits right on top, and just feeds the fan, yet it does not blow enough droplets to make everything all wet, which is not what I would want. It’s more of a fogger, and so the moisture is just enough to make the cool breeze just a touch cooler, and then evaporate very quickly. It is best felt if you sit right next to it. The moisture does taper off at a few feet away, but still chills the air just a bit more than the fan alone. I can’t wait to try this with ice cubes in the water; the weather is not quite hot enough for that yet. Excellent design: very easy to use and to set up anywhere you need it, even when filled with water.

Brief operating time.
I live in very hot and humid South Carolina. We have a very nice lanai but in the summer it is usually too hot to enjoy it. I was thinking of adding a misting system but figured I’d try this simple and inexpensive device to see if misting would, indeed, improve the comfort. It does if placed near my seating location so I will likely add a more elaborate system that’ll cover the entire space.But I learned quickly that this unit needs constant water refilling, i.e. the water lasts only about an hour or less if the fan is on high. More importantly, the battery also has limited operating time, maybe about 2 hours – well short of the advertised duration – and it takes quite a while to recharge. So unless you want to keep a water jug nearby to repeatedly replenish the reservoir and you can plug it into a nearby power source all the time, it has very limited value.If I were the manufacturer, I’d embellish the thing with a bigger water reservoir or a way to connect it to an optional, separate but larger water tank. That’s also allow for a lot of ice to make the device much more effective. I’d also include a more robust battery or, at least, offer quickly and easily interchangeable batteries so one could be charging while the other is powering the unit.

Ok, but not what I needed
The fan blows well, but not an actual mist, which is what I was looking for to help keep cool during my son’s summer baseball season. Tested in the house, not during outdoor heat. The size is a good portable size.
