Great Price, Great Light!
I work in a dark office and wanted something that was going to give me a natural light effect that wasn’t going to cost an arm and a leg. I took a shot on this and I’m glad I did! There is a little stand that is about 6-8 inches high that would have worked well but I used the clip to clip it onto a board so the light was a little higher. It gives off a natural light feel and does a great job of making a dark area light and easy to work in.

This has turned out to be a very useful and effective product. I have regular Zoom meetings and never really considered that I appear pretty shady and that my appearance is heavily dependent on the room’s lighting which could vary by time of day and whether the curtains are open.This lighting unit comes with two mounting options, a large solidly built clip with a nice ball movement that can be tightened down to position it precisely. The clip attaches to the edge of a table or to a monitor, and I’ve clipped it to both my 27″ desktop LCD and to my 15″ notebook. The bezel on that is pretty meager and still this clip was able to hold it firmly in place to the small bezel without falling off or moving around. The other mounting option is a small flexible tripod which I did not try but looks just like a tripod I bought to hold my phone when using it to record video, and that tripod works well, so I’d expect this one is competent. The light itself has a standard screw that fits a standard tripod (which the included one is) and the clip takes the same standard tripod type screw as well.The light is a ring with a round array of LEDs that are about 1 1/2 inches wide going around, and it has a slim cord going to a USB port. I’d point out that if it isn’t convenient to plug into a computer, you could just take any old USB charger and plug it into that. It just needs the standard 5v and doesn’t consume much amperage (I’d guess an amp or so at most) as it is LED. The cord also has a control unit halfway down.The control unit has a power button, two buttons to cycle through the 5 possible brightness levels, and two buttons to cycle through the 5 color temperatures, total of 5 buttons.So now the bottom line of how it works… It isn’t a professional grade piece of equipment, and something to be used for production or a professional youtube show or live streaming, and people who do these things for a living will have a $150 microphone or better and a high quality camera and a more expensive lighting setup. This unit is for people like me who just want to look more presentable for meetings or social chat. For that, it’s perfect. Setup couldn’t be easier — I had it plugged in, clipped on, and settings selected in just 2 minutes or so. It has color range from fairly warm to fairly cool (the warmest setting is working to make me look natural at the moment), and it looks like the color range should be adequate for most skin tones and lighting situations. The light is nice and even, which is what matters. You can set the brightness to 5 possible levels which looks to be enough to get where most people would need it to be for most situations.For the $20 cost, I’d say the 5 temperatures and 5 brightnesses are fair, and the included accessories are quite good for an inexpensive device. I’d think that having a few more brightness levels like maybe being able to go just a bit dimmer and having a bit more gradient between brightnesses, and same for color range, would be a plus (maybe 10 levels starting a bit less bright and going a bit brighter), but I don’t see this as much of a rating demotion for a device of this price that comes with nice mounting options. I’d also suspect that if someone needed even more fine control, that could be had from a more expensive device. Looks like the capability for a bit more gradient exists for roughly the same cost, though to be fair, the other competing options for the same price did not have a tripod. I was tempted to consider it a fair tradeoff but rethinking this, I suspect that adding the extra gradients could probably be done without impacting the cost, so I will deduct a bit since others have done just that. This bundle looks like a fair deal and it works very well. It improved my image on Zoom and I’m glad to be able to use it.

Great lighting for the price, but ring clamp was too loose so light flopped over while being used
This is a great light for the price: the light is bright, you can adjust the brightness up and down, and you have multiple light ambiance settings from warm to neutral to cool. As a light, it does a great job.I do have three issues with this product though, which is why I gave it 3 stars:1) There is a screw clamp built into the head of the unit where the light attaches to the clamp to allow you to adjust the position of the light while it’s loose, and tighten it to hold the light in place once you’ve put it into the proper position for your needs. On mine, the screw would not tighten enough to properly hold the light in place. I had to place a scrunchy around the base of the ring and stretch it over the top of the computer clamp behind it in order to keep the ring light itself upright and keep it from flopping forward/facing downward. This is annoying, and means I can’t adjust the light to face any other direction w/o figuring out a new way to rig it (I can’t fix this w/o destroying the plastic casing that covers the assembly).2) The computer clamp is great – very strong and made of a metal type material, BUT the padding on the inside is too thin. I have a gaming laptop with a screen that goes almost to the edges, and this was almost too much grip without enough padding – it was visibly bending/biting into my actual screen b/c I don’t have large margins of plastic and frame around the edges, and I couldn’t pull the clamp out any farther or the whole contraption would have flopped over from the weight of the ring light assembly. I ended up using some soft, large makeup pads to add enough extra padding to protect my screen.3) More of a minor thing, but the stand it comes with is decent, but it’s really, really short. It would have been much more useful if it had telescoping legs that were at least 12″-18″ tall instead of about 6″, so the light is always straight on your face or slightly above you, no matter where your computer is sitting. I tried placing it on a shelf my laptop sits on in front of me so the screen is even with my eyes, and still it lit me from underneath and made me look like I was getting ready to start an episode of Tales from the Crypt. =P I suppose I could have mounted it on the wall above my laptop or something, but for the few times I need this light, it’s not practical. I ended up using the clamp on top of my monitor even though I’m still a little concerned it will hurt my laptop’s screen over time b/c of how strong the grip is.I realize that this is an inexpensive product, so I wasn’t expecting it to be perfect or super high quality. But I was expecting it to work, and be a little thoughtful. Some very small tweaks (at least a working ring clamp, and thicker padding on the clamp or a clamp with less pressure at the end and more distributed pressure throughout the clamp’s surface) would have made it easy for me to give it 5 stars instead of 3.

I just received this desk ring light, and while I can’t comment on its longevity, I can tell you that it’s a great little light!! Someone commented that the clamp for the computer was too tight, but for me it’s not, I have an iMac and it sits snugly, it has padding so it won’t hurt the screen. If you have a laptop with a softer screen, you might need to try something else, but for my purposes, it’s great.I love that you can adjust the brightness to so many levels, and the tonal value too.I’ve just tested it with Zoom and it really makes a massive difference.In the video I’ve tried to show you the variations in brightness and tone, plus I did a close up of the clamp.The tripod is great too, I’ll definitely be using that as well.Highly recommend it!

I love this ring light. I’m using it clamped to my montior, next to my web cam, and it’s perfect. I do like that it came with a stand in case I want an option, but the clamp works perfectly for me. The adjustment brightness and light shade is perfect, but not too bright where I need to squint. I often use this as a lamp at night, and it gives a perfect amount of light. Highly recommend!
