Burns hot with good flame
There seems to be two types of fire starters: 1) wax impregnated fiber squares that you break apart; and 2) wax impregnated strands that are rolled into small bunches. This fire starter the is latter.Both are easy to use, just light them. The rolls burn hotter with a larger flame. The squares burn with a one inch flame and the rolls burn with a two inch flame. The rolls are a bit messy because the strands are brittle and leave crumbs.The problem with squares these days is that there is a tendency to go cheap on the wax so it doesn’t burn like before. Seems like it’s mostly just fibers burning.The E500 burns hot and long. It lights easy. It will definitely get your brickets burning faster than the squares. If you’re starting a wood fire, you want to go with the E500.
